ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PLANNING

Federal Student Aid Direct Loans and/or Pell grants may not cover the entire cost of attendance. Students are responsible for payment of tuition and course material fees not covered by federal financial aid prior to the start of the program.

After exhausting loan opportunities available from the federal aid programs, many students will consider private loan programs as an additional source of funding. Private education loans are credit-based consumer loans that can be used to pay any post-secondary education related expenses, including tuition and fees, books, and transportation. Always consider your lowest cost options first, including grants, scholarships, and federal student loans.

Motion Picture Institute does not provide a preferred lenders list, we provide students with a list of private education loan lenders that have offered private loans to our students over the past four years. Students should select a private lender of their choice, they are not required to use any of the lenders Motion Picture Institute may have listed. Contact our admissions office for more information. Students should apply first for Federal Student Aid before resorting to private educational loans or Motion Picture Institute Payment Plans.

IN-HOUSE PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS

Motion Picture Institute offer interest free payment plans for The Motion Picture Production Program tuition. This can be used for gap financing for Title IV students or for those paying entirely out of pocket. For a payment plan application and payment options worksheet please contact us at: 248-528-1760 or payments@motionpicture.edu.

If approved, Motion Picture Institute will draft a payment schedule on the outstanding balance.

Non-gap MPI Payment Plans (meaning the entire tuition is financed) requires an additional down payment before the start of class. Payments begin while the student is in the program. MPI Payment Plans do not extend beyond 12 months. Applicants with low credit ratings will be required to have a co-signor.

PRIVATE EDUCATION LOAN APPLICATION SELF-CERTIFICATION

Students obtaining a MPI Payment Plan or a private education loan will be required to complete a Self-Certification Form required under Section 128(e)(3) of the Truth in Lending Act (15 U.S.Code § 1638(e)(3).

To complete this form students will need information about their “cost of attendance for the period of enrollment covered by the loan” and information about your “estimated financial assistance” for that same period.

For cost of attendance student may obtain that from the MPI admissions office or using the school’s Net Price Calculator. The estimated financial assistance may be obtained by the MPI admissions office.

The form and information to complete it can be provided by the MPI admissions office. Only one self-certification form is required per loan application and will need to be turned in to the MPI admissions office when completed or to your private lender.
